TAMMY WYNETTE's body was exhumed and an autopsy was performed yesterday here in Nashville. Tammy's husband ordered the autopsy in hopes it will exonerated him in the wrongful death suit against him by his step-daughters. Results from the autopsy won't be known for 4-6 weeks. GEORGE JONES won't let a lil' ol' thing like internal bleeding stop him. The singer predicts he'll be well enough to tour this summer and has tentatively booked some dates to prove it. He's slated to take to the Ryman stage in August although his publicist says that is "extremely tentative." (04.14.99) Check out George's Albums!
MARK WILLS was in Atlanta, flipping through the "boob tube" when he was drawn to a special Maury show, featuring a segment called "Beautiful Girls With Ugly Scars." One of the guests on the show, Karlee, was only 7-years-old and had been scared from a fire. She told her story, then sang Wills' song "Don't Laugh At Me." He was so moved to tears that he called the show's producer. The segment had been taped several months earlier, but they had just booked Karlee to come back for a follow-up show. BOXCAR WILLIE died last night at his home in Branson, MS due to complications from Leukemia. (04.13.99)
CLINT BLACK is set to appear in the CBS telepic, "Going Home". The movie stars Jason Robards and Mare Winningham as an aging father and career-driven daughter struggling to come to terms with the father's illness. SHANIA TWAIN is the first female artist to attain Diamond Certification with consecutive releases. Her latest, Come On Over just topped 10 million in sales and her Woman In Me album has sold over 11 million. Congrats! (04.12.99) Check out Shania's Albums!
TIM McGRAW is enjoying sweet success on the charts. His lastest single Please Remember Me is the fastest rising song on the charts so far in 1999. The song has been out less than a month and has already captured a spot in the Top 10 on Billboard, Gavin and R&R. It is also listed in the Top 25 in Billboard's Hot 100.
